Install Google Docs Add-on

Step by step instructions to install the Pantheon Content Publisher Google Docs Add-on.


With Pantheon Content Publisher, you can publish content directly from a Google Doc to pages on your site. This is done by converting the Google doc into a format consumable by your website.

To use Content Publisher, you’ll need a few things:

  1. The Content Publisher Google doc add-on.
  2. The set of users you intend to allow to access the Google Doc Add-on.
  3. A site that you manage where content will be published.

Prerequisites:

  • A website must be running on NEXT.JS (React), Drupal or WordPress or the ability to create a new site on the same technology.
  • Must be using Google Workspace.

Google Doc Add-on Installation Steps

The Content Publisher Google Docs add-on can be installed from the Google Workspace Marketplace.

Open the Content Publisher add-on page on the Google Workspace Marketplace.

  1. Select “Install” to begin installing the add-on.
  2. A prompt will appear confirming your permission to begin installing the Pantheon Content Publisher add-on, select “Continue”.
  3. Google will ask you to sign in using your Google credentials.
  4. Google will provide a summary of the permissions being requested by the Pantheon Content Publisher Add-on. Review the permissions and select the “Allow” button to continue.
  5. Congratulations, the Pantheon Content Publisher Add-on has been successfully installed!

Using the Content Publisher Add-on

  1. First, navigate to a Google doc you’d like to publish or create a new document.
  2. On the lower right side of the window, select the “Expand” arrow/button; this will open the right sidebar.

  1. In the right sidebar, you will see the Pantheon Content Publisher add-on, select the add-on to open it.
  2. You will be prompted to allow Pantheon access to your workspace, follow the prompts to allow the add-on to access your workspace and the Google Doc.
  3. The last step is to select ‘ALLOW’ when prompted to allow Pantheon access to this file
  4. Select the “CONNECT TO PLAYGROUND”, this allows you to preview and publish documents to our playground, or select an existing collection if someone already configured Content Publisher for your Google Workspace and gave you access.
